IAB Europe presents industry consent mechanism for meeting challenges under the GDPR

IAB Europe presented a new technical standard to support the digital advertising ecosystem in meeting requirements relating to user consent under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will enter into application in May 2018. The announcement was made at the EDAA Summit 2017 which brought together 200 participants including advertisers, agencies, ad tech, and media in London.

Re-consenting to marketing under GDPR?

Dutch DPA says Microsoft breaches data protection law with Windows 10

Microsoft breaches the Dutch data protection law by processing personal data of people that use the Windows 10 operating system on their computers. This is the conclusion of the Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) after its investigation of Windows 10 Home and Pro.

GDPR consent and fair processing

Industry Watchdog Reminds Advertisers of the Importance of Transparency and Choice

Two digital advertising companies, Adbrain and Exponential Interactive, were cited in recent decisions by the Better Business Bureau’s Online Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program (OIBAAP) for not complying with the online advertising industry’s requirements for interest-based advertising (IBA), the practice of tracking users across time and services to build interest profiles on them in order to serve more relevant ads.
